I applied back in August and got the interview invite in September. The whole thing took about three months. It started with a chat with a recruiter about my experience and why I'd be good for the job. Then, I had three more interviews with people on the team, and finally, a panel interview with five people from different departments. This setup is pretty standard for UX/Design Research roles, and I actually liked talking to everyone. But things got weird after the panel. I followed up twice with the recruiters and heard nothing for over a month. I figured I'd been ghosted, which was a bummer considering how much time and effort went into preparing for five rounds. In early November, I got an automated rejection email saying they'd filled the position. After all that work, getting a impersonal, canned message instead of direct communication was really disappointing. It really stung. I expected better after a three-month process, especially from a company that says they 'Communicate directly with empathy.'

The interview process was weird. My first round was a panel interview with HR, a marketing counterpart, and the VP of Marketing. It was supposed to be 30 minutes but ended up being an hour and 15 minutes. They really drilled down into marketing strategy and how I would handle their current situation. The questions were fine, but it felt like too much for a first round and not respectful of my time. I asked about salary, and it was surprisingly low, especially for the responsibilities. There was no information about next steps.

The HR team was initially really responsive. When I didn't get the first role I applied for, they suggested I apply for another. This seemed like a good sign. However, after another interview, they told me I wasn't qualified for that role either. It made me wonder why they even invited me to apply. To top it off, the HR person who was initially so responsive then ghosted me, and I was left with an automated message telling me to keep checking their job boards for openings.

I was interviewed by a group of 4 people at once. They asked me about the technology I've used and if I was familiar with specific techniques or processes. They also asked general interview questions, like a time I had a conflict with a coworker and how I resolved it. I didn't get asked the technical questions I prepared for, like concentration or conversions, but I think others might have. They offered me the job the next day, although another new hire mentioned it took them two weeks to get their offer.
