First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GENCO Distribution System.
Warehouse Worker
I had a quick chat about my past jobs and how I worked with others. They asked about conflict resolution, what equipment I'm comfortable using, and my thoughts on workplace safety.
- Tell me about your relationships with previous coworkers.
- Describe a time you dealt with conflict.
- What equipment are you experienced with operating?
Operations Supervisor
I had an initial phone screen with Corporate HR. After that, there was a phone interview with the Hiring Manager, then an in-person interview with the Hiring Manager. Next, I had a phone interview with the Senior Director, followed by a phone interview with the Senior VP of Logistics. Finally, there was a physical exam and drug screen. Honestly, that's a ridiculous number of interviews. I went through it all because I really wanted to work at that specific facility; otherwise, I would've passed after the first in-person interview.
- Can you tell me about a continuous improvement you've implemented?
- What was your reasoning behind selecting that particular continuous improvement?
- What was the timeline for implementing that continuous improvement?
Sales Support Manager
I applied online with my resume and cover letter. In my cover letter, I talked about the company's great reputation and innovation, and who I knew there. I also made sure to match the job requirements to my experience and express my excitement for the role. Then, I had a phone interview with HR. After that, I had a full day of in-person interviews with the hiring manager, HR, and some sales leaders I'd be supporting. I got an offer a few days later and started two weeks after accepting. Apparently, I got the job because I could show I knew the industry and had experience in similar roles, beating out another candidate who was considered strong until I applied.
- Can you describe your ability to write lengthy reports accurately?
- How do you manage project submissions from the sales and solutions team?
Forklift Operator
The initial interview was at a job fair with a shift supervisor, focusing on equipment operation experience. The subsequent interview, held in an incomplete facility's hotel lobby, involved the same supervisor and another interviewer. They inquired about my past experiences, educational background, and aspirations for the future.
- How long have you operated this particular machine?
- Can you describe your experience operating specific equipment?
- Could you elaborate on your previous work experiences?
