Affiliate Manager
I had two interview rounds with the company, got good feedback, and an offer which I accepted. Then things got messy. After accepting and seeing the contract draft, HR went quiet, and I had to chase them. The day before I was supposed to start, with no warning, they said they couldn't proceed because of 'internal contracting issues.' They didn't explain further or apologize properly. The problem is, I'd already turned down other interviews and stopped looking, trusting I had this job. My family had also made plans. The last-minute cancellation caused significant professional, financial, and personal disruption. It's not that things change in business — that happens. It's the total lack of openness, no proactive communication, and no regard for how this impacted me when I acted in good faith. Candidates aren't disposable. When you offer a job and someone accepts, you owe them honesty and timely updates, especially when plans go sideways. The interviews themselves were fine, and the people were professional. But be careful: don't drop other prospects, don't commit financially or personally, and don't consider an offer final until you have a signed contract and a confirmed start date.
- How would you approach growing an affiliate account if there was no budget for paid advertising?
Account Manager
The interview process included 3 interviews. It started with HR, then a meeting with your potential manager, and the final round was with your director and manager. They were efficient in moving the process forward and kept communication open. They were also very transparent about company expectations and policies, which was appreciated.
- Can you describe your experience that makes you a good fit for this position?
Account Coordinator
HR ghosted me after they said they would follow up for a second interview. I reached out twice and got a deflective response that didn't answer my questions about next steps. The rest of the company seems great, but HR needs a complete overhaul. It also looks like someone else got ghosted only 2 hours ago — it's clearly a common thing.
- Can you describe yourself?
- What are your strongest and weakest qualities?
- What makes you want to work here?
Affiliate Manager
Even though this is a US-based company for remote workers, they adjust the salary range to your permanent location, which is really convenient. The interview process was pretty basic, nothing special to report. We figured out it wasn't a good fit during the interview because they need experience with all the main affiliate networks. It seems like their career path is pretty standard corporate: assistant to associate AM, associate AM to AM, AM to Senior, and so on, regardless of your actual experience if your industry background is different.
- Could you start by telling us about yourself?
- What would you say are your biggest strengths?
- Have you worked with the Rakuten network before?
