First, I had a preliminary phone interview where the recruiter told me about the company, the role, and what they expected. They also asked me about my reasons for applying. Then, I had an in-person interview with the President. He asked about my background, education, past jobs, why I want to work here, my previous recruitment numbers, and what I could bring to the company. Lastly, I had a final interview with the Director of Outside Sales. They explained the job expectations and its importance to the company. They also asked about my intentions, what I can contribute, and my career goals.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

For this senior sales position, I interviewed with the president, Jason Brown. The interview process was pretty typical: an external recruiter put me forward, followed by a brief phone screen, then a more in-depth phone interview, and finally an in-person interview where I was given an offer on the spot. I made sure to be more prepared for each subsequent interview. Jason has a straightforward and probing style that can be challenging for some. For a solar industry sales role, the company might prefer candidates with less specific energy/industry knowledge than I had. I might have focused too much on solar energy instead of pure sales skills, but I got the offer due to some shared interests and my background as a young entrepreneur.

Applied on their website and filled out a quick questionnaire about name and availability. Received a call within a few hours. I missed it and planned to call back the next day, but they called me again before I could, which felt a bit pushy. I had a phone interview, and then they sent an email with potential questions for the in-person interview, suggesting business casual attire. The next day, for the face-to-face, they seemed unprepared. Two people were talking in an office with the door open, and it turned out to be another interview. They appeared surprised when I arrived. The interviewer called me into his office; he was dressed casually and had an unkempt appearance. He reviewed my resume and asked the same questions as the phone interview, plus some others. None of the questions from the email, which were quite generic, were asked. At the end, he mentioned around 40 applicants for 2-3 positions, but seemed unsure of the exact number. He said I'd hear back by the next day if selected. I never got a callback, and less than a week later, they were posting job ads again. This company doesn't seem very honest or willing to take a risk on someone with limited work experience.

First up was a phone interview that seemed like a basic check to ensure candidates were qualified. Then I had a face-to-face interview at their office, which was a great experience and the environment was really cool. I met the Director pretty much right away. It felt like a casual chat rather than a formal interview, which was a nice change. They seemed genuinely more interested in getting to know me as a person than my actual work experience. It's clear they really value their company culture!
