First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gemalto.
Embedded Software Engineer
Got my resume in via a referral and then they called me for an on-site interview in about a week. The whole thing had two interviews: a technical one and an HR one. The technical interview was basically a paper where I had to solve some questions and then we talked about my answers. After that, the interviewer gave me the lowdown on how the team operates and what their system is like.
- Can you describe data types?
- What is a state machine?
- Could you elaborate on your previous work experience?
Embedded Software Engineer
I applied through LinkedIn, and it took about 2 weeks for the interview. They asked technical questions based on my past experience. I felt the interview went well, so I asked the interviewer about the timeline for a decision. She mentioned she would inform HR within 2 weeks. However, I didn't hear back even after a month, so I reached out to HR. They stated that the interviewer hadn't informed them about the open position, so they couldn't provide any information. This was over a month after the interview. I believe Gemalto should at least provide feedback to candidates who interviewed. Overall, my experience was poor.
- Could you discuss the projects listed on your CV?
Embedded Software Engineer
So I had this written exam first that took 30 minutes and had 25 questions. It covered a bunch of stuff like basic programming and debugging in java and c, some probability questions like figuring out the chance of drawing a certain ball color, age problems (you know, like 'Carl is twice as old as Rita now...'), Computer Memory, converting hex to binary and vice versa, and simulating computer programs. Then I had the actual interview with 2 people, a project leader and a Manager.
- Can you describe and discuss the current and previous projects you have worked on?
- What is the reason for leaving your current company?
