The interview process was really smooth and efficient, everything was clearly laid out. First, there was a phone screening where the recruiter gave me good info about the job and the company. Then, I had a technical assessment, which was tough but totally relevant to the role. The team interviews felt more like conversations, looking at both my tech skills and if I'd fit in. Everyone I met was professional and easy to talk to, which made it way less nerve-wracking. They kept me in the loop with updates and clear next steps throughout. It was a good experience overall and made me feel positive about the company.

I didn't even get to the interview stage. They gave me one of those IQ tests where you have to figure out the next shape in a sequence. I did pretty well on it, but then they told me the passing score was 100%, which really felt like a waste of my time. It's not like that's what a developer actually does. I write code and I'm good at it. Gelato is missing out on good talent because of this pretty unreasonable test.

I applied through an agency and my application was initially rejected because I didn't have enough Golang experience. However, they reached out again via the agency and invited me for an initial interview. The interviewer seemed rushed and not impressed with my answers, cutting me off multiple times. I was asked about my knowledge of the company, a complex problem I solved, my reasons for moving, and if I had questions. My responses about company research and reasons for moving were met with criticism. The interviewer provided brief and unsatisfactory answers to my questions about work-life balance, profitability, and company age. The overall experience was negative and felt rushed, which was surprising given the company's emphasis on culture.
