First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GECU.
Event Specialist
The process started with a single interview, which was a panel discussion with four managers. This lasted about an hour. After the meeting, I was told I'd have to do a practical exercise and was given 20 minutes to finish it on a computer in a semi-private area. Once I submitted the assignment, they said they'd be in touch. It took about a week before I followed up about their decision. They told me they'd contact me. Another two weeks went by, and I followed up again, receiving the same kind of general response. Finally, after four weeks, I got a rejection email.
- What would you do if an event attendee was unhappy because the event didn't meet their expectations?
Teller
The interview was great and straightforward. I enjoyed being interviewed by this company because the questions were directly related to the position. There were two interviews in total, the first was a phone interview and the other was with a panel of three people.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Sales and Service Representative
I had a 45-minute interview over ZOOM with an HR representative. They used a lot of role-playing questions to see how I'd interact with a member. First, I had to explain my work background, and then they asked me several questions about skills that I could bring to this job.
- How would you tell a member that their loan application was denied?
Teller
GECU does a credit check first and disqualify those who don't pass. An HR Rep will call you to set up the first pre-employment test, and if you pass those, you'll take two more. The interview is normally the last part.
- What is the hardest part of the pre-employment testing process?
