First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gecko Robotics.
Mechanical Engineer Intern
The interview process kicked off with a 20-30 minute HR phone screening. Following that, there was a 20-30 minute engineering manager phone screen where they asked a mix of behavioral and technical questions. The final stage involved a 15-minute portfolio presentation, followed by a 60-minute whiteboard technical interview, and a 30-60 minute behavioral interview with some of the engineers.
- Can you discuss your technical experience and any projects you've worked on?
- Tell me about a difficult situation you had to navigate.
- What are you looking for in terms of company culture?
Mechanical Engineer
You'll chat with a recruiter who's really trying to hype you up. It'll feel like you're crushing it. Good luck though, if you don't know what they're aiming for. After that, there's a second interview with the hiring manager who wants to see your project portfolio, and then a third round technical interview. I only got to the first one.
- Tell me about a time you had to overcome a challenge.
- Can you walk me through your past projects and your contributions?
- Describe your approach when faced with setbacks or failures.
Mechanical Engineer Intern
First, I spoke with the head of mechanical engineering. They asked me questions about beam bending. After that, I was asked to discuss my past projects and experiences. There's a second round interview and then a virtual onsite where we have to present our solution to a take home technical challenge.
- Where does the most stress occur on a cantilevered beam?
- Tell me about your previous projects and experiences.
