First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GCE.
HR Advisor
The interview process was online and involved three separate interviews. It started with a phone call, followed by two team interviews with HR staff and managers. The interviews were good and they asked for a lot of examples. Each interview lasted about 30 to 45 minutes. They asked pretty general questions about my experience and my experience in the industry.
- What is your understanding of our company
Infrastructure Architect
A headhunter reached out about a role at GCE. I had a 30 min call with the CTO, which went well. Then I went in for an on-site interview that was 5.5 hours long with HR, 2 directors, their security team, and the CTO. It was unclear what role they wanted me for. I got good feedback and was asked to apply for Infrastructure Architect, with a custom role being created. I went back a week later for a CEO interview, expecting to talk with the current network person, CTO, then CEO. The technical interview was straightforward. Then I was told the CTO wasn't available, so I spoke with the former CTO. The former-CTO didn't know the role I was applying for and asked irrelevant questions. I had to redirect the conversation. After that interview, I learned the CTO and CEO had already left for the day, which was unprofessional. I got great feedback again and a verbal offer for 10k less than I wanted, but I was considering it to build the team. They asked for my college transcript from over 14 years ago. After days of no response, they said I wasn't being considered because of the transcript, despite my 18+ years of experience and solving their issues during interviews. They should have asked for the transcript upfront or at least ensured the CEO was available, especially since I confirmed the interview was still happening earlier that day despite icy roads.
- Regarding the issues we're having with "X", can you explain how you would troubleshoot it and what the solution would be?
Lead Cable Technician
I spoke with Shefali for the initial phone screen, who was pleasant. After that, I met with someone I believe was the Operations Manager, a middle-aged man in the back right. He made the lead role, which involves supervising five people, sound like I'd be under constant, close supervision, treating me like a child. I felt belittled, and the offer was hourly, at a rate lower than advertised and even below typical Cable Tech wages in Atlanta, despite my 6 years of experience. The offered rate was $19/hour.
- Tell me about your experience working in government facilities, specifically like the CDC.
- Are you able to pass a drug screening?
- Can you make sure to show up for work?
Business Analyst
I was contacted by a recruiter from GCE and we scheduled a call for last wednesday evening. The recruiter missed the call - with no explanation or apology - so I reached out to schedule it for the next evening. We had a 20 minute conversation and then discussed interviewing face-to-face with the managers onsite the following Friday after 12:00pm. I reached out every day for 5 days - phone calls and emails - to say thank you, follow up, and ask about the interview schedule. The recruiter never called or emailed me back. I guess they are no longer interested?
- None of the questions were difficult
