First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gazillion Entertainment.
Programmer
I had to do a take-home test where I had to fix errors in a program. Then, there was a DSA round where they asked me basic C++ questions and how to use STL libraries like Vector, Stack, and Queue.
- Did you play our game?
- Did you enjoy our game?
Design Director
I first applied through an online lead on twitter and the recruiter got back to me right away. An interview was scheduled for 3 days later at GDC. I spoke with the project producer and the head of the Gazillion studio. That interview led to a second one where I flew out to meet the team and interview with all the project leads. They made an offer the next day which I negotiated a bit and accepted the day after.
- Tell me about your experience leading design teams.
- What are your strategies for taking over an existing design team?
- Describe a situation where you disagreed with product owners about a decision you believed was incorrect.
Senior Database Administrator
Got a recruiter call first, then they scheduled a technical phone interview. After that, I had to wait two weeks for the face-to-face interviews, and then another three weeks to get the offer.
- Tell me about what you put on your resume.
- Can you go into more detail about the items on your resume?
Marketing
I had phone interviews with some staff members who were fairly new to the company. The vibe felt like casual online games, which didn't seem like a great fit for an MMO company.
- Do you prefer the 'frat boy' culture of that creative agency?
- Is social relevance the most effective way to make a successful MMO?
