First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gaylor Electric.
Special Project Engineer
The interview process was quick, easy, and polite. They were flexible with timing, and the interviews were direct and efficient. The first interview was online, and the second one was in person with another team member. A few comments from my manager seemed a bit odd, but overall I can't complain.
- Could you do a short presentation showing your Microsoft suite skills?
Project Manager
I applied for the Assistant Project Manager role and the next morning, the HR recruiter reached out to schedule a phone interview for Friday. Two more rounds with peers and the hiring manager were planned over the next two weeks, followed by a fourth interview with an executive board director. I confirmed the interview time and prepped using my resume and the job posting. However, ten minutes before the interview, the recruiter canceled, stating they had already hired someone and weren't aware. I was offended by the lack of professionalism and informed the recruiter I was no longer interested in any positions there, withdrawing my application.
- What do you know about this role?
- Can you tell me about your experience?
- What is your experience with lean project management?
BIM Designer
I skipped the initial phone screening and went straight to a face-to-face meeting with the VP of Engineering. It was a panel setup with the VP and his Senior Manager. They asked me about my background, how long I'd worked at my past and present employers, why I left each position, and my future career aspirations. After the Q&A, they showed me around the office and the prefab shop, then explained that they'd be in touch within two weeks regarding the next steps.
- Why did you leave your previous employer?
- Could you describe your experience?
- What is the duration of your employment at your last and current jobs?
Mechanical Engineer Intern
The interview process was straightforward and focused on personality. There were a few technical questions and some questions about my resume. I had one interview with HR. Since this was one of the company's first years offering an internship program, it might be a bit different, but the company culture is really laid-back and casual.
- What makes you interested in working for an electrical construction contractor?
