First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gavin.
Manager
Worst interview experience. There was zero warmth from the interview panel and they were extremely rude, judgmental and arrogant. It’s obvious there’s a ring leader there who screams micromanager. It was a relief when the interview ended and would never consider a position at this company. Learn how to treat people.
- What is the amount of your book of accounts?
Designer
The process lasted about an hour. I interviewed with the CEO and the Director of Account Services. It was a bit unusual not speaking with any designers, but I did get to show them my work and talk about my process.
- Can you describe the most challenging project you've undertaken and explain your approach to overcoming its difficulties?
Manager
It took them a couple months to even get back to me after I applied. I'd seen their 'Free Your Mind' sign and had read reviews about micromanaging, so I was keen to ask about it. But, I never got to ask any questions in the first interview. They got back to me right away and wanted a second interview, mentioning a "personality test." But it was when they said you have to be in by 8:15 a.m. every day that I realized what other reviewers were talking about and that this whole process was a waste. I decided not to continue. Treating employees like kids is ancient history. Free Your Mind, Gavin.
- What is your motivation for joining an agency?
Intern
For an internship, the interview process is quite thorough. You'll go through 2 interviews and a writing test to be considered. The writing test itself takes about an hour. In each interview, there are multiple people on the call, but they do make you feel welcome!
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What would you say is your biggest weakness?
