Behavioral Technical

So, I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn back in July. The initial message was kinda weird, trying to be funny and childish. I replied with a few questions, but she immediately sent a follow-up email without even waiting for my response, which made me think it might be a scam. I booked the meeting anyway. It was a very casual, almost startup-like vibe, which I wasn't expecting for Gartner, but the recruiter was super enthusiastic. It was a standard screening call, and right after, we scheduled a behavioral interview. The behavioral interview was supposed to be an hour, but she was nine minutes late and then said her camera and connection weren't working, so we had to reschedule. When it finally happened, the tone was still very 'startup-like,' but we dug into my experience more, asking about retention, cross-selling, upselling, and how I prepare for discovery calls. She said she'd present my profile the next day and get back to me the day after, but I heard nothing. I followed up the next week, still no response. A month later, I asked for feedback, assuming I was rejected, and again, nothing. Now, it's November 2025, and another Gartner recruiter has contacted me. This is the third time they've reached out. The first time, I was ghosted after the screening and only got a reply after I followed up, saying someone else was hired. Then this recent process: two interviews, ghosted again, and four months later, another recruiter reaches out. I'd love to work at Gartner, but their recruitment process is a mess. They need to respect the time candidates put into interviews and at least provide updates. I'm done responding to their recruiters.

The interview process involved a screening call, followed by a manager interview focusing on experience. Then there was a case study that simulated a discovery call and explored my motivations. The final stage was a panel interview with two people, a sales manager and a VP, where I had to present a discovery case study, and they provided traits and expected star answers. Communication was quite mixed throughout the process, with several people involved and some internal confusion. I was told to expect updates on a specific date but never heard back, so I had to chase the recruiter for the result after the final rounds, which was pretty poor service.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

It was a really long interview process. First, there was a 30-minute screening call, no camera. Then, I had a 1-hour call with the same recruiter where I had to go super deep into deal specifics – like how I sourced them, who was involved, what objections came up, and any weak spots in my process. After that, I had a similar 1-hour call with a Skills Assessor. We broke down some real deals to see how I handle things behaviorally, and then I did a role-play in a made-up situation. The last step was an hour and a half meeting with the team – two managers and a VP. They asked a few questions, and then I did a role-play with a 'real' client in a mock scenario. It was tough, they really wanted to see how I uncover needs and find pain points fast. The recruiter was great and kept me prepared. The only downsides were the VP checking their phone during the behavioral questions and not leaving much time at the end for me to ask my own questions.
