First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gartner Studios, Inc.
Assistant Vice-President
I had serious doubts about their culture and if it was a good fit after the only in-person interview. They focused more on my US Government insights and overall appeal than my resume, which was fine. I specifically asked up-front if they had a requisition, if the opening was funded, and if they were looking to fill it now, as I've learned some companies interview without intention to hire. They ultimately did not make an offer because they weren't sure there was enough addressable market to earn strong commissions and decided to wait, which was frustrating. They were secretive about the company name, Gartner, until near the end, which made things more challenging, and I don't understand why. Finally, they asked me to come to NYC from [Location] for a mock interview panel, making it clear it was a stress test and that my ability to address customer objections was more important than the presentation content. I think I did a solid B+ with only a day to prepare, but I'd be more prepared in a real-world sales meeting. What really bothered me is that I left my family to go to NYC, the Exec Assistant wasn't there to greet me, I didn't get a tour, and wasn't even offered water. I'm not high maintenance, but I was looking forward to chatting with the hiring manager, but he wasn't there. They literally called me in, said 'Begin,' and walked me out. One person came in for 2 minutes for follow-ups. Honestly, if they had just said, 'This is unusual, but we are terribly busy today.' It felt like the extreme negativity they were 'play-acting' in the mock carried over as living theater. I'm sure they found someone great, but it was strange and left me wondering if that's how they treat each other daily. It didn't feel like a VP-level interview process.

Account Executive
I was contacted by a recruiter, thanks to an employee referral. I reached out to the employee on LinkedIn and that got things going! A call was set up quickly and I spoke very openly (and convivially) with the recruiter. Even though the role I had applied for wasn't remote for my location, she told me to contact her DIRECTLY if anything came up in my area later so she could advocate for me. I was impressed.
- This was an introductory call, not a formal interview, but similar questions were asked.
Account Manager
The interview process began with a 20-minute call with a recruiter to discuss my CV, the position, and salary expectations. This was followed by a second, 90-minute call which included questions about why I'm interested in Gartner and sales, and involved a STAR Method exercise and a Role Play focusing on traits.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in Gartner?
- Why are you interested in a sales role?
- Using the STAR Method, describe a time you demonstrated a specific trait.
Sales
It was a multi-step process with at least two interviewers. It was held virtually using video conferencing software, which might have been due to the global COVID pandemic at the time. It was a very professional experience.
- Tell me about your latest sales experience in English and any other languages you speak.
