Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Garage.
Assistant Manager
I had interviews with the store manager and then the district manager. It seemed pretty straightforward, but they didn't hire me even though they said some really positive things that made me think I was a top candidate. When I asked why I didn't get the job, just so I could get better for future applications, they said that even though I was nice and friendly when I shopped there, I wasn't 'memorable' and didn't have the 'presence or look they are wanting' because I wore sweats instead of dressing up.

Assistant Manager
I applied online. Then I had an in-person interview with the store manager. A few days later, I had another interview with the district manager over the phone. It was a lot of situational questions, so I had to be ready to talk about my past experiences, not just who I am or what I like. The store manager and district manager were friendly but professional.
- Can you share an instance where you led your team to complete a project under a tight deadline?
- How do you use communication to establish the right team atmosphere?
Manager
I was contacted by a company employee who confirmed my interest in the role and invited me for an interview. The interviewer was pleasant. We reviewed my resume and they asked me some general questions. I was also asked how I would handle specific customer or work scenarios.
- Could you share one of your strengths and one of your weaknesses?
- How would you approach specific situations involving customers or work?
