The interview process for a Materials Coordinator role at GameChange Solar is structured but can feel a bit long and involve several steps. It typically starts with an initial screening or online interview where recruiters check your background, education, and if you seem like a good fit. Then, there's usually one or more technical or manager-led interviews where they'll talk about your experience with inventory management, supply chain stuff, and using tools like Excel or ERP systems. They might also give you some skill or aptitude tests, like in Excel, communication, or technical knowledge. The whole thing can involve a few calls and checks, including background checks, and it's generally considered moderately difficult, usually finishing up in a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the specific job and where it is.

I had a phone call and then an in-person interview. The in-person part included a test on buying engineering materials and doing some QuickBooks entries. They initially offered $55k even though the job was posted for $60k. I mentioned I had another offer for $60k and wanted to see if they could counter. The CEO then went on a rant about how I needed to be really fired up to work there, that they weren't proving anything to me, and that I was there to prove myself. He asked if I was more interested in changing the planet or just getting a few extra bucks.

I applied online, then had a phone interview. After that, I interviewed with the Manager. They asked me about my domain knowledge, supply chain operations and management, and my work experience. I also asked them some follow up questions about the company profile, work culture and benefits.

The hiring process included online interviews with a lengthy background check phase. They assess your aptitudes through exams and multiple calls. It felt like the process could have been simpler and less invasive. There were Excel and Autodesk evaluations. It was a long process overall.
