& Process

So I applied and then a person from HR called me to set up an interview. This interview was with her and it was mostly about me, why I was choosing that company, etc. After I passed that interview I went on to have an interview with the managers from that department where I just had to talk about myself again, my interests and my motivations.

You'll start by sending in your application through Galp's website or by applying to an internship posting. Then, the recruiters will look over the applications to see who fits the internship needs. Finally, you'll have a last interview, could be online or in person, where they'll check out your experiences, skills, and if you're a good fit for Galp's values.

So you get to the office and sign in with the receptionist. You might wait a bit. You can look over your resume or notes. Then, someone shows you to the interview room. You'll meet the interview panel, which has engineers, project managers, and HR people. They'll introduce themselves, and you might chat a little to start. The interview kicks off with questions about your mechanical engineering experience and skills, especially for the oil and gas industry. They'll want to hear about your projects, your technical skills, your knowledge of industry rules, and any certs you have. They'll also ask behavioral questions, like how you handled tough projects, team issues, or juggling deadlines. Expect technical questions to check your grasp of mechanical engineering concepts for oil and gas, like equipment design, materials, safety, and fixing problems. You might get some made-up problems or case studies about mechanical engineering in oil and gas. Make sure you know about our company, our projects, and the industry.

It began with online tests covering IQ, reasoning, and English. Then, there was an online interview that involved a presentation and some interview questions. After that, we had an in-person team-building escape room activity. The online presentation interview went smoothly because the recruiter was nice and professional. The in-person part was well-organized and on time, although I wasn't a fan of the escape room game.
