Applied online and a week later, I got a call from the recruiter for an initial screening. She was nice and said she'd set up the next interview with the hiring manager and sent over some benefits info. But then, I got rejected four days after that.

I had a phone interview with Justin first which was very relaxed. He asked me a few questions about my previous experience and background. He gave me a lot of background on the company and his career at Galen. There were two online, multiple choice quizzes that were pretty straightforward. One quiz was primarily on JavaScript and one quiz was on SQL. Most people getting out of college won't ace either quiz without reading up on the questions, but there were not any really difficult questions. The in-person interview was great; it was pretty informal. It was a phone interview with the developers in Chicago and Boston along with a few Burlington employees in the conference room. Galen seemed a little unprepared for the interview (not a lot of questions) but it made for a dynamic interview and showed me how fun of a place it is. Justin told me that they would be extending offers soon but after I expressed interest he never let me know I didn't make the cut.

The interview process had 3 parts. First, a 30-40 minute HR screening. Second, a technical interview with the hiring manager about my technical and work experience. After that, I got a short technical exercise to show my approach and implementation. The third interview was a group session with the hiring manager and two other engineers. We mostly discussed the technical exercise and how to expand the solution. They wanted to see my technical skills and how I work with others.

Behavioral Technical Case

The interview process had 3 rounds. First, a phone call that was pretty preliminary and not technical at all. Second, an SQL technical round, mostly to check if you understand SQL. Third, a panel interview which was behavioral and technical, where they reviewed your round 2 technical work and gave you a semi-technical case study to work through.
