Gagosian General Intern Interview Questions
& Process

The staff was conscientious and attentive, the entire process was professional and conducted with an inclusive, kind manner. I feel like I can easily open up and express myself freely and confidently. The interview questions were standard, I'd say they are pretty interested about your previous work experience related to the art industry and how much you know about their company too (i.e. artists, exhibitions etc.). Overall, it was a delightful experience!

The first interview was great and made the internship and Gagosian sound awesome. However, the second interview was with two people who seemed uninterested in interviewing me, let alone an intern. After the positive first interview, it was disappointing to find out that this internship is basically just a way to get underpaid workers who aren't interested in helping you grow your career beyond having a known company name on your resume. The second interview also suggested a high-stress environment due to colleagues' bad attitudes rather than the work itself. Overall, a terrible experience.

I discovered the opportunity through an anonymous posting for a Chelsea gallery internship, which I later learned was for Gagosian. The interview emphasized the need for an outgoing individual skilled in client relations, particularly with challenging patrons. They were keen on my knowledge of past Gagosian exhibitions and represented artists, so it's crucial to be well-versed in their roster and exhibition history. The interview felt quite informal, though with a slightly condescending undertone, which might be expected.
