It was a good interview, and they were very straightforward. Nothing too surprising. They were upfront about what you might do and how roles evolve at the company. It's a pretty standard job interview for the fine jewelry industry. If you've done one before, you'll know. If it's your first time, do your market research first. Sign up for some fine jewelry and jewelry industry email lists and read JCK or In-Store Magazine. You'll suddenly understand everything and be ready to go for the interview.

Got a call from a Hr Assistant who asked if I was free to chat. She asked me about my past duties, what got me into graphic design, and why I wanted to work for Gabriel & Co. Then she asked about my salary expectations (35k-40k). She mentioned the role paid much less, and I said I was still interested. The next day, another Hr Assistant emailed, and we went back and forth about salary. I said I was looking for 32k-35k because I really wanted the job. He was blunt, saying the salary was even lower. I told him I was still interested but couldn't interview until the next week. He said that was fine. By the end of the week, I called about the interview, and he said they'd moved on with another candidate. So they hired someone willing to take peanuts. They probably thought I'd be difficult about salary. It's a shame companies expect us to work for so little money that we can't even cover bills or food.

Recruiter set up three interviews, all supposed to be over Zoom with HR. But the HR person ghosted both times, which felt super disorganized. The third interview was in person, first with the owner, then with the marketing lead. I gave some ideas on how to make the website better, but the interviewer seemed to take it personally. They came off as really rigid and controlling, like they'd want things done their way, not really open to ideas or working together. The whole thing made me think there could be issues with teamwork, making decisions, and moving forward with the brand strategy. Basically, the job and the boss's style don't seem to fit how I work or what I want for my career. I probably wouldn't be able to make a real difference or grow there.

First, I took a really cool personality test. A specialist then reviewed it to see if I'd be a good fit for the role and the office vibe, which they totally nailed. After that, I had an interview with the Account Executive Manager and HR, mostly discussing the test results. They were concerned the test suggested I might be better suited to be a boss than an employee. Then, I had a short Excel test, which is important for this job. I passed, but just barely. So, they had another interview where I promised to learn Excel on my own before starting, and I did.
