So, there were like 4 rounds in total. First off, 2 technical rounds, then a Hiring Manager chat, and finally an HR chat. The first technical round was all about coding – they gave me a few problems like checking IP address validity, converting numbers to Roman numerals, and writing a SQL query for the second highest salary. The next technical round was more about system design, specifically designing a workflow. After that, the Hiring Manager round was focused on value alignment. They asked about my strengths, weaknesses, my most challenging project, how I deal with conflicts, and basically what I do day-to-day in my current job. The HR round was more about cultural fit and some forward-looking questions, like where I see myself in 5 years.

Technical Coding

So I had this first call with a senior engineering team lead, and they hit me with technical questions, some from my resume, and asked me to talk about past projects. I fumbled some of the tech questions because I wasn't expecting it so early. Then they sent me a coding test to do in a week. I got it in by the deadline, but honestly, it was pretty complex, and I decided to try learning a new database tech for it, so I didn't fully finish. I sent what I had and explained, but haven't heard back, even after emailing them. Kinda expected a quick heads-up if they weren't moving forward, you know?

I applied through their website. A recruiter reached out and set up a phone screen with a senior engineer. After that, I got a take-home challenge. They said they liked my submission but needed someone with more experience. A few weeks later, they contacted me again about a Junior Software Engineer opening and invited me for an on-site interview. The on-site went really well, and I told the recruiter to get back to me quickly because I had other offers. She called the next day with a verbal offer and told me to decline my other offers. She mentioned the CEO had to sign off on offer letters and it was Friday, so it would be sent Monday. I didn't hear back Monday. On Tuesday, they emailed to say they were rescinding the offer because management decided to use the funds elsewhere. It's a shame I have to say this about G2, but it was incredibly unprofessional. I really hope they think about whether they can actually fill a position before inviting someone on-site, and definitely before extending a verbal offer.
