The final stage was the assessment centre, which was a bit of a mixed bag. I did my research and knew what I had to do to pass. You're told not to worry if you mess up an activity, but I can tell you that if you slip up even slightly, your chances of getting a placement are slim. The process involves 2 assessments, a week apart. I'd recommend focusing on the technical knowledge needed and practicing a lot!

HR took me to a small room, I signed an NDA and was given an envelope with a letter. This letter was about providing feedback for the 'assessment process' via glassdoor. It also mentioned they 'will be in touch soon with feedback on your application'. I was encouraged to complete it ASAP, and I'll explain why that was mentioned later. Then I had an hour for a technical test with pretty standard(ish) questions. This was scanned and emailed to the tech team for marking. If I got above a certain credit threshold, I could continue, and the interview wouldn't terminate. I passed, and then I was interviewed by team members I might work with. They would come and go, and I didn't really know who was coming in next or for how long. This went on for a couple of hours, and I ended up seeing four people in total. Finally, the interview process ended, and I was told they would let me know. Days passed, and I contacted HR for a response/update on my application, but got no reply. So after a few weeks, I realized that was it! They should have the courtesy to provide some feedback, whether positive or negative, for my time/money spent, and then I got no response.

I applied through a recruitment agency and the whole thing took about 2 weeks. They asked me to fly to London for the interview, but didn't refund my expenses. I had to leave my stuff in a locker and sign an NDA, so I can't share the questions. I did a technical test, and after passing, I had three in-person interviews with different team members: a junior, a senior who had just been promoted, and the team manager. I found out the results two days later. They said my technical skills were a good fit, but the manager didn't think I was a good fit for the team. It was a pleasant experience overall, and everyone was very kind. I would recommend applying for a role at G Research; it's a very interesting company and in a great location.
