I had a half-hour chat with the digital campaigns director. It was a nice conversation, and they said I'd hear back within a week. After about a week to 10 days, I followed up... no response. I tried again a few days later and got the same silence. I eventually contacted other people at FWD, but they just sent me back to the digital campaigns director, who kept ignoring all my emails. I don't expect a reply just for applying, but getting interviewed and then being completely ignored is unprofessional and makes the organization look bad.

I applied online by sending my resume and cover letter to an email, and they got back to me the very next morning. The first interview was the day after that, over the phone, and the interviewer was really friendly and easy to talk to. They then asked me to send over a writing sample, after which I got invited for a second interview. This one was on Google Hangouts with two people from the company. About a week later, after they did a reference check, I got the job offer.

First, they'll chat with you about your background, education, and past work experience. It's a general chat at first, but as you move forward, they'll dive deeper into your advocacy experience and your passion for immigration and criminal justice issues. It's super important to show you've thought about these things and have compassion for the people affected by them.

The interview process had two rounds. The first round was more of a get-to-know-you chat, and the second round was with higher management. Overall, the interview felt smooth and conversational, really focusing on getting to know me. Management asked questions about how my skills could best benefit the team.
