The interview process was smooth and the interviewers were very friendly and respectful. I met with 3 people, including the manager. They were down to earth and gave me a tour of the beautiful shop, explaining what would be expected of me and how they would help me to achieve this.

Had a quick phone chat that involved some basic questions. They mentioned a base salary for the first year plus commission, but after that, it's only commission. There seem to be a lot of people in this role, so it's probably competitive. I'm not sure I'd like a cutthroat place like that since I value honesty and don't like feeling pressured, especially when shopping, let alone pushing people. Friends have said the sales consultants there can be rude if they don't think you have a big budget because the base pay is so low or it's just commission, so they only care if you're spending a lot. That's not really the kind of work environment I'm looking for, so I wasn't too upset when I didn't get the job. It's probably a good idea to check out the store yourself to see if it fits your personality before deciding to work there.

I had an online forum interview first, which was easy to use and had prompted questions. The recruiter was helpful and tried to make my transition smooth. I was then offered the job, but had to speak to the manager. The manager was rude and offered me a different job created that week, stating I lacked experience for the sales position. She mentioned a review in a year or two if I met standards, but wouldn't put it in writing. When I expressed concerns about relocation costs, she suggested government housing. I declined the offer, and she said it might not be a good fit if I was giving up on my dream job. This experience, and learning the company is notorious for such practices, has turned me off from applying again, though it has motivated me to find my dream job.

So, after a phone interview and an online assessment, I had an in-person interview with the sales/marketing recruiter. She gave me a tour through a segment of the furniture showroom where she told me about the company and asked questions about my sales experience and background. Later we met in a conference room and brought in head sales managers.
