First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fund That Flip.
Project Coordinator
The hiring process was really smooth and straightforward. I felt I was a solid match, possibly even overqualified for the position I applied for. I proactively contacted the recruiter as soon as I noticed the job posting, as I was drawn to the company's profile and had been watching for openings there for some time. It was rewarding that my genuine interest in the company actually led to progress this time. I went through two interviews: an initial phone chat with the recruiter and a subsequent Zoom meeting with the project managers. Both of these went exceptionally well, and I was optimistic about my chances. The recruiter contacted me the following day to inform me that the role had been offered to another candidate who had accepted it. While I appreciated the update, I did wonder what qualifications the selected candidate possessed that I lacked.
- Can you describe the criteria you use to decide whether to implement an agile or waterfall project management methodology?
Account Manager
The three people I interviewed with were all friendly and they seemed like people I would enjoy working with. Pretty standard interview questions, and nothing that threw me off. They appeared to be interested in personality as much as qualifications, which is something I appreciate. One thing I did not like, is that after several interviews, I received a short rejection email without any explanation. I asked for feedback because I thought everything went well, and I never received a response- frustrating after spending that much time.
- Describe a time you experienced failure and the lessons you took away from it.
UX Designer
I interviewed the first time in mid-April 2022. They didn't say anything until mid-June when asking if I'd like to continue. Scheduled for early July for interview 2. Then interview 3 & 4 (which seems extensive) were set for 2 weeks later, each 45 minutes. The morning of interview 3, the recruiter called me at 8:15am to push the meeting back and to assign a different person to interview with for the interview that day and for later in the week. I was more than flexible with them. Interview 3 as I'm presenting the person interviewing me is clearly not listening as I am having to repeat myself frequently. Then the call drops as I'm presenting & I had to re-present an entire project. It gets better... The day of interview 4, I had a personal situation come up. I emailed the recruiter as soon as I realized I was in no shape to interview - explaining my child's routine doctor visit turned south and I was processing the news. I also texted her. I offered to reschedule, said I understood if they needed to move forward without me AND offered an alternative solution to their 'working' style interview. No response from the recruiter at all. I sign on to the interview to make sure to explain and excuse myself. No one is there, so clearly the recruiter got my email and relayed to her team but not even a cold 'received' email/text back. 5 days later I get an automated email saying they're moving on & to keep in mind for future to apply again. I will never recommend this company to anyone. First, this recruiter needs to have a heart. Second, this shows that they probably don't treat their employees as well as they try to say they do in the interview process.
- What was the goal of this project?
Collateral Analyst
The interview process started with a 30-minute phone call with a recruiter who gave an overview of Fund That Flip and the role, and asked about my background and some general questions. Next, I had another 30-minute phone interview with an Underwriting Manager. After that, I received a take-home challenge, and then had a 45-minute video interview to discuss my responses. Overall, it was a great experience!
