Brand Marketing Manager
The interview process was fast and straightforward. I was contacted via email and then had a phone call with HR. They seem eager to hire, so expressing your enthusiasm and drive should be key.
- Can you introduce yourself and describe your previous experiences?
Senior Software Engineer
They have this motto, "We don't hire 'jerks'", straight from their director of front end engineering. First, there's a phone screen with mostly behavioral questions, followed by a coding challenge. If you nail the coding challenge, you get to come in for the final interview. The company is pretty much full of socially maladjusted millennials. The interview was easy and they seemed to really like my coding test solution. The final round was mostly about silly css questions, basic javascript questions, and a bunch of Dunning Kruger behavioral questions, where they act like psychiatrists analyzing your answers to see if you're a 'jerk'. Instead of asking stuff to get to know you, they ask cheesy behavioral questions to judge how much of a 'jerk' you are. I guess I'm a 'jerk' because I can't see why I wouldn't get an offer. My time and money felt totally wasted with these people. Why not just hop on a skype call to judge my appearance? Why bother with a phone screen and coding test just to ask questions you could have asked over the phone? Oh well, that's life, and I'll remember their faces if the situation ever reverses.
- Can you explain what "this" refers to in JavaScript?
- How would you describe your approach to collaborating within a team?
- Tell me about your experience with Dunning Kruger-style behavioral questions.
Senior QA Engineer
It was a really friendly interview process. The questions were tough and covered a lot of ground. I had to do a deep dive on my previous solution, tackle a coding challenge I had already submitted, and answer questions about my personality and how I'd handle work challenges. I'd tell anyone applying to be ready for both technical and practical questions.
- If you had more time, what improvements would you make to your coding challenge solution?
- What are your motivations for seeking this position?
- Why do you believe this company is a suitable match for your career aspirations?
MBA Recruiting
I applied online and then a recruiter got back to me to set up an interview. It took a while for the recruiter to reply after I sent my availability, and I had to follow up. During our chat, I found out the internship description didn't really align with the actual role. At the end, she said she'd update me on next steps within a week, but I never heard back.
- Could you please give me an overview of your resume?
- What would you say are your key strengths?
- Tell me about a time you demonstrated leadership experience in the past.
