Manager
A Fujifilm recruiter reached out to me for a phone interview, but they missed the initial meeting and rescheduled for the next day. This interview was a basic behavioral screening. Afterwards, I was given a technical exercise that was about the right difficulty level, though the recruiter was very slow to respond to any questions. Then, I had a video call with the team lead, which consisted mainly of behavioral questions. The recruiter then emailed to set up an on-site interview. Scheduling this was tough because the recruiter only confirmed the interview time the evening before. The on-site involved meeting with several team members, including the hiring manager. They said I'd hear back in a few days, but then they ghosted me and never replied to my follow-up emails, which was typical of my experience with the recruiter throughout the whole process.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
Project Manager
It started with a recruiter screening, followed by an assessment. After that stage, I was informed that two candidates were shortlisted, and I was one of them. A few days later, I received an email stating they had chosen another candidate because that person had similar industry experience. It was surprising because I wasn't even interviewed.
- Tell me about your skills.
- Can you discuss your resume?
- How did you perform on the assessment?
Principal Electrical Engineer
Applied online and heard back via email in 4 days. Then had a phone screen 3 days later. A short video interview (~20 mins) mostly focused on behavioral questions happened 4 days after the phone screen. The final stage was a 3.5-hour onsite interview two weeks later, which included three sessions with two interviewers each, followed by a 30-minute chat with HR. The interviews were not heavily technical but leaned towards behavioral, so be ready to share examples of your successes and challenges.
- Can you share an instance where you had to resolve a conflict with a manager or a coworker?
R&D Position
We started with a tour of the facilities. Then, I was in a conference room where interviewers met with me one by one or in pairs for about 45-60 minutes each. Lunch was provided in the on-site cafe. Some of the interviewers weren't very friendly and seemed confrontational, which made me reconsider if I wanted to accept an offer. The whole process felt a bit unorganized, with awkward scheduling and no clear end to the day. They could really improve by training their interviewers on how to conduct interviews, remembering it's a two-way street – they need to sell the company to the candidate too, not just assess capabilities and fit.
- Could you elaborate on your views regarding subject X?
- Describe your methodology for tackling problem Y.
- Share an instance where you encountered a significant technical hurdle.
