it was both physical and virtual. two rounds of interview with the line managers and was ok. no need to print hard copy of document and can be shared via email. responds was quite fast considering the interview date
- What are your passions, aspirations, and the challenges you foresee in this role?
Technical Support Engineer
The interview process included 2 tests and 2 rounds of interviews. The first test was an IT test, followed by a written test. After the tests, there was a face-to-face interview with the line manager and then separately with the department head.
- What are your career plans for the future?
Accountant
Got a message and call from the recruiter (who was a contractor). The interview was set up for 2-3 days later. I had to pass an Excel test to move on to the interview stage; failing the test meant no interview. The recruiter mentioned I could reach out if I had any questions. The interview itself went okay; the hiring manager seemed engaged and friendly. Later, the recruiter followed up and said a decision would likely be made that week. I followed up after the week passed, but the recruiter ghosted me and didn't reply. It was unprofessional behavior from a contractor recruiter not to respond, especially after mentioning a follow-up or a decision timeline. Basic courtesy would have been nice, at least not leaving the candidate hanging.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
- Could you walk me through your previous work experience?
- How do you typically manage challenging situations encountered in your job?
Software Engineer
The company visited our campus and we first had to fill out a form with our personal and academic details. Then, there was a section to describe our current or past research. After that, an online test was conducted with different questions for each of the 3 streams. Out of 50 participants, 11 were shortlisted. The interviewers, who were from Japan, asked basic questions like introductions, strengths, and weaknesses. I was then asked to use the board to elaborate on my research, and they asked enough questions to ensure a clear explanation. No technical questions were asked; they were assessing adaptability to Japanese culture and learning ability.
- I was expecting technical questions, but none were asked.
