Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at FSG.
Associate
The first interview was a senior team leader call over zoom (no cameras). It was a basic interview going over my qualifications and experience. The second interview involved a test where they gave me information and numbers about creating a vaccine and I had to show my methodology on how I would advise on the process. Basic math was needed.
- Why are you interested in this position?
- How do your qualifications align with the requirements of this role?
- Can you articulate why this is the right point in your career for this opportunity?

We started with an HR call where they went over the process and what they were looking for. The first stage was a phone screening that focused on problem structuring and a simple case study. No fit questions were asked. Next, there was a Skype case study with a senior consultant, which was pretty involved and focused on market sizing and problem-solving, with a few fit questions. The final round was another Skype case study, this time with an associate director, again focusing on market and problem sizing, but with more fit questions than the previous interview.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in FSG?
- What is prompting your decision to leave your current role?
- What are your career aspirations moving forward?

It started with a phone interview focusing on my background and its relevance to consulting. A week later, I had a follow-up in-office interview that involved three separate sessions. These sessions involved deeper dives into my experience and work habits, and also provided insights into the company's work and culture. A case study analysis test was also part of this. Within days, I was contacted for a third interview, with an urgency expressed to schedule it quickly. I provided my availability promptly, but then heard nothing for two weeks. The next communication informed me that I was no longer being considered for the role. I think asking about work-life balance and mentioning my young children might have been the reason, as the interviewers seemed hesitant.
- How can you relate your past work experience to the field of consulting?
- Can you explain how your background aligns with the requirements of a consulting role?
