I had an initial zoom meeting and I thought it went well and I kind of just went over my general marketing experience. In the interview though the lady mentioned that they had no idea what the role would be like or if they were even going to hire anyone. I thought this was very odd and definitely a red flag. At the end of the interview she told me that I would be emailed the following week with an update. I was ghosted after that.

The hiring manager reached out in mid-October for a screening call. We talked about the role, the company's business, and that they were hiring two PMs. They asked my salary range, confirmed it was in line with the role, and wanted to proceed. I had a second interview that week with the Lead PM. Then, I was asked to prep a 20-minute presentation about myself for a 90-minute third interview with the team the following week. After that, I was invited to speak with the CTO the next week, who discussed their growth plans and improvements, including compensation. The day after, the PM lead called to check references and prepare an offer. I was surprised to find the salary band for this role was significantly lower than the minimum I had stated. I was speechless and couldn't accept. I requested clarification on the discrepancy, as it was discussed and noted in my interview records. I wouldn't have gone through the process if I'd known the salary bands for this and other PM roles. I still haven't received an explanation. Companies should be more upfront and honest about salary expectations, or let hiring managers handle those discussions. Surprising candidates with lowball offers isn't necessary.

The interview began with a comfortable and conversational phone screening. Following that, there was a unique in-person interview where I was asked to prepare and deliver a short slide presentation about myself. This was a good chance to showcase my accomplishments and personality using visuals.

I had 2 phone interviews, then an in-person interview. I was asked to prepare a presentation for the in-person interview. After the interview, they said they'd contact me the following week, but they didn't respond to my follow-up. Two weeks later, I got an email saying they'd contact me in two days with next steps. I followed up, and after two days of silence, I followed up again. Finally, I got a call saying they selected someone else but would get back to me about further opportunities. The job posting was back online the same day, so it wasn't filled.
