Freshworks Frontend Engineer Interview Questions
& Process

The first round was a take-home test where I had to design a form exactly like the one in the screenshot, including all the described functionalities. I had 1.5 hours, with a possible 10-minute extension. Internet access was allowed, and I could use any framework. They reviewed the code to decide who moved on; out of over 30 people, only four were shortlisted. The second round was a technical interview. They asked basic HTML and CSS questions, then about data structures (queue, list, tree) and algorithms (sorting, searching). Finally, I had to write sorting code on paper. Nobody got shortlisted after this round.

The interview process was intriguing but long. It had four technical/team rounds plus a final discussion with HR. The first round focused on web development basics, with analytical questions rather than typical 'what/why' ones. Round two involved a machine test and quiz. Since my resume highlighted design skills, I had to design a webpage on paper and then recreate one on a provided Macbook. Working with the Mac was a bit challenging as I'm more of a Windows user and had to set up my own tools like Sublime, Grunt, and a local server. The third round was with the UI Director, where we discussed their work at Freshdesk, including spin-offs and their tech stack. All interviewers really dug into our understanding of OOJS and MVC. They also asked about my experience with Ember, which I didn't have. The fourth round was a casual technical chat about past experiences with the potential team lead. After the technical parts, the HR panel joined us in a very cold room to talk about Freshdesk's work culture. I asked questions based on Glassdoor info and got honest answers. Salary negotiation was a bit tough but we reached a good agreement. I received the offer letter signed by the CEO and left. The next day, I canceled my other interview processes and turned down another offer. Just one day at Freshdesk was enough to convince me!

Recruiter was great! However, we had to wait over 2 hours for the panelists on a Saturday, so definitely avoid weekend interviews. I had high hopes for Freshworks, but CTS's interview process felt better. The first round was entirely technical, covering almost every UI topic, though the interviewer didn't seem to grasp in-depth concepts. The second round focused on DS and algorithms and was frustrating; the interviewer was fixated on one solution and unwilling to consider others, lasting about 2 hours. They only offer a maximum 30% hike, so I won't apply to Freshworks again.
