First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fresh Del Monte Produce.
Assistant
Had a chat with HR, super nice, they told me about the company and what they're looking for in general. Then, I spoke with the department manager who went into more detail about what the job needs. After that, there was a quick knowledge test on the tools.
- What are your career aspirations?
QA Inspector
The office is easy to get to by bus, just a 5-minute walk from the stop. There's a waiting area in the lobby, though HR seemed a bit swamped. The QA Manager interviewed me, explained what the job involves, and asked about my past experience.
- Can you accept the working conditions?
Assistant Product Manager
I got there on time and the interviewer was waiting outside when I was checking in. He took me to a room and started by explaining the role and his expectations. After about 3 questions, he decided I wasn't a good fit and, without a proper closing, suggested he knew someone else hiring. He took me upstairs to meet another hiring manager, who left me waiting for a bit. This manager didn't have my resume and, upon hearing my availability, said he didn't want to waste my time. He didn't even want to hear why I wanted the job. He mentioned the position has been open since July and the previous hire left. He could have at least listened to me as I could be a candidate in the future, given this position is always opening and now I see why. I guess they can't keep people because if this is how they treat candidates, I can only imagine how they treat employees. They also don't bother being polite or saying thank you for coming or following up. I've interviewed a lot and this was the worst. A real waste of time.
- Can you describe your personality?
- What makes you the ideal candidate for this role?
- Do you have prior experience in the produce industry?
Buyer
The interview process was really professional. I met with four of the Buyer managers in the department. It was a straightforward conversation where they wanted to get to know me and explain what the positions involve. I met with each manager individually, not as a panel, which maybe they should have done. The whole thing took about an hour. The company seems great and everyone appeared to like their jobs. The only downside I noticed was the condition of the office and equipment; for such a large company, they seemed a bit underfunded in that area.
- Can you tell me about your experience in this field?
- What is your current location?
- How long is your commute?
