Hiring manager was way too focused on hardware, even though the company's projects are a mix of hardware and software. They kept asking about hardware experience, showing a strong bias towards mechanical engineers and a lack of interest in diverse viewpoints. They wanted a strategic thinker (like a Product Manager) but offered a junior "product owner" title and pay, which felt like lowballing.

The hiring process was quite communicative, but it suffered from several delays and the scope of the interviews kept changing weekly. It was pretty frustrating because I received conflicting reasons for the delays, and the whole thing dragged on for months. They were also really rigid about the start date, which couldn't be negotiated. My suggestion would be to make the hiring process smoother and be clearer about the actual job responsibilities from the start.
