Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Freeport-McMoRan.
Senior Accountant
The hiring process had 2 steps. First, a phone chat with the hiring manager. Then, about 3 weeks later, I had in-house interviews. It was a morning of 3 interviews back-to-back, and then a quick chat with HR about the pay.
- What's your experience like in the mining industry?
- Could you describe your background related to the mining sector?
Accountant
The interview process here takes a really long time, as others have said. First, you do an initial interview using HireVue, which is weird because you record answers to automatic prompts. After submitting that, it's radio silence for about a month or more. Then, a recruiter finally gets in touch to set up a virtual interview with real people. This is a panel interview with 4 team members where they ask questions about your resume and experience, mostly behavioral stuff. After the interview, I didn't hear back for over a month.
- Tell us about a time you encountered X.
- Tell us about a time you encountered Y.
Payroll Specialist
I applied through a recruiter and was contacted the next day to submit an interview through Hirevue. You have 3 attempts to record your video response. After a week I still hadn’t heard back either way.
- Describe a situation where you had to speak up.
- Can you give an example of a time you challenged the status quo?
- Explain an instance where you were more successful working in a team.
