Software Engineer
I had an initial interview where they asked me about my background with serverless computing, ORMs, multi-threading, and debugging. I mentioned that I didn't have much experience with multi-threading, but I was honest about it. The interviewer took notes but didn't say if my responses were good or bad. At the end, I got to ask them some questions.
- Can you outline your methods for debugging applications that involve multiple threads?
- Could you tell me about your experience with serverless computing?
Software Developer
The interview process was pretty straightforward and not too difficult. I had a good conversation with the hiring manager, who was very nice. The questions were pretty generic, like 'get to know you' type questions, and didn't really dive deep into anything specific to the role. They weren't tricky, which was a plus, but I still didn't get a clear picture of what the job or company is actually like.
- Could you tell me a bit about yourself?
- How often do you see yourself coming into the office?
- What sort of team activities can I expect to be involved in?
Software Engineer
The interviews were pretty standard, but the whole thing dragged on for over a month because I had to meet with everyone separately: the director, the tech leads, HR, and the higher-ups. The chats with the director and VP were mostly just getting to know each other and talking about the company. I think they were mainly checking if I'd fit the culture and if my resume was on the up and up. The HR chat was quick and to the point, just confirming we were aligned on pay and expectations and answering my questions. What was cool is that the technical interview didn't involve any whiteboarding or coding on the spot. I'm good at coding, but I prefer to think things through rather than have someone watching me code. The technical questions were more about concepts and theory, not specific code. Overall, it was a solid and thorough process, even though it took a while. It would have been way more annoying if I wasn't already working, but since I was, it was just a minor hassle.
- Can you explain what PII is and the best practices for securing it?
