First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Freedom Boat Club.
Dock Hand
It was a three stage process. First, I had a call with a recruiter about my background. Then, I spoke with the manager over the phone about the role. Finally, I met the manager in person to talk more about what the job entails and if I'd be a good fit.
- Tell me about your experience with the company.
Dock Master
It was a quick, easy, and efficient interview. I don't have any complaints. The HR department interviewed me, and then I got interviewed by the manager and the regional manager. I recommend it if anybody is looking for a nice, easy job to get. Everybody who interviewed me was friendly. I only had to do three rounds of interviews.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
HR Manager
The process was pretty straightforward - I had a phone interview with a recruiter in Chicago, then a video interview with the hiring manager. After that, another video call with a director. The final step was an in-person interview with both the hiring manager and the division director. But after that, there was silence. It's strange that a company of this size doesn't have a system to notify candidates about their status. I know I didn't get the job, but a simple confirmation would have been appreciated. Even an automated email, easily sent from any ATS, would suffice.
- Can you describe your ideal HR team composition?
Dock Master
The interview process was pretty simple and straightforward. They were looking for knowledge and skills related to boating. It's easy to answer the questions if you've spent more than a day on a boat. Having your Boating Safety Certificate is also recommended. Since the job involves both boat work and a lot of customer service, they're assessing you on those areas.
- Can you tell me about your experience operating a small leisure vessel in terms of hours?
