First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Franklin Electric.
Production Assembler
The interview went as expected, with very straightforward questions. They asked very few questions but preferred that I ask questions about my desire to work. It was a standard approach and a very simple process to complete and be added to the applicant list.
- What value do you offer?
Marketing Specialist
The interview process was extremely long and in-person, lasting over 4 hours, which wasn't disclosed beforehand. I was interviewed by several individuals simultaneously in a style that felt more like an interrogation, making it very uncomfortable. It seemed like they weren't sure about their ideal candidate profile because they couldn't articulate what an ideal candidate would bring to the table, which made it difficult to position myself as a solution. Despite two phone interviews and the lengthy in-person interview, they were slow to communicate about the next steps. I only received an automated email about the position after I followed up several weeks later.
- How would you market our company to younger individuals who are taking over businesses from older generations?
Product Manager
First, there were three phone interviews. The first two were with the hiring manager, and the third was with the HR Director. Then, I had to visit the plant, which I paid for myself. When I got there, the meeting with the hiring manager was okay. The first hour was just introductions, which was fine. But then, for the next five hours, it felt like I was just shuffled between employees unexpectedly. The big meeting with the VP was definitely not pleasant or welcoming. For at least an hour, he didn't ask any specific questions related to the job; it felt more like he thought I owed him money. I did talk to the hiring manager again, who seemed like a nice, capable person I'd be happy to work with. But, he mentioned in our last half hour that his contract was ending soon and he was leaving!
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
Market Manager
First I spoke with the department VP, which was cool, not some HR person trying to sell me. After three calls where we chatted, I was invited for a full day of interviews with execs, my future peers, and people who would report to me. It was a pretty standard day. Some of the execs were awesome, but others seemed like they didn't really care about hiring. I left not knowing how I'd take an offer. Then, after two weeks, I got a voicemail saying they were looking at internal people.
- What specific actions would you take to expand our market presence and drive business growth?
