It was a three step interview process where I passed the initial phone interview, then a secondary tech phone interview. The first recruiter called me again to set up an in-house interview with another gentleman I spoke with on the second call. I drove five hours to Franklin, TN for the 3rd interview, but when I arrived no one seemed to be expecting me. The manager who was supposed to interview me wasn't there. The two people who spoke with me asked why I was looking in Franklin, and I explained my partner already worked there and we had a house, and I was trying to transition. At this point, one of them became somewhat hostile, smirked repeatedly, and they seemed to have made their decision. They gave me a cursory ten minute walk around the office, which seemed full of unhappy people in cubicles dressed in 80s style formal attire. Driving home I reflected how they wasted my time and $50 in gas. I guess it was for the best I wasn't called back a fourth time.

The interview was very short and felt a bit sketchy. I ended up getting the job, but I didn't feel confident about it afterwards. I wasn't asked many questions. They just showed me the job description and asked if it was okay. We talked a bit about me and that was it. It was very vague. Not much information about the company or the department was shared, and some people didn't seem very engaged.

I spoke with two women at the same time. One woman was in charge of the Broker Support Specialist position, and the other was her boss. They were really nice and friendly and told me a lot about the job and what they expected. They asked me a lot of questions about myself. They said I interviewed well, but they didn't offer me a position. Instead, they recommended me for another role at the company. The company really values professionalism.

I first sent my resume to a temp agency that partners with Franklin American Mortgage Company. Almost immediately, they had me do a typing test and then set up an in-person interview with the Audit Team Lead. It's a pretty professional environment, so dress like you would for a business meeting. Make sure you know what the company does and how you can help them out.

  • Can you describe how you've contributed to a team in the past?
