Director
The initial contact was through Monster.com, followed by their corporate HR. This can take a while, so patience is key. Also, consider a less senior role as a way to get your foot in the door, as they often promote from within. The hiring process is specific due to tribal hiring preferences: priority goes to Tribal members, then other native nations, then existing employees, and finally the rest of the world. It's important to be fully comfortable working for a Native American nation and to understand the political and economic factors involved from the start.
- Imagine a reporter interviewing you in a year about your significant achievements from the past twelve months. What would you tell them?
Security Officer
It's a standard process. They might call you back at different times, but you can always follow up with them. They'll ask you about your past experience, your reliability, and your references. The interviewer is usually pretty nice, depending on who you get, but I haven't had any problems. If they decide to hire you right then and there, they'll give you a welcome packet and let you know about orientation, though I'm not sure about the specific days or times.
- Would you be comfortable helping patrons who are under the influence?
- What would you do if you encountered an intoxicated person looking for a friend?
Table Games Dealer
I applied online but didn't get a call, so I contacted HR myself for an interview. HR offered me a walk-in for the next day. They tested my ability to identify different chip colors like green, red, and orange, and also asked some math questions where a higher score was better.
- What motivates you to apply for this position?
- Is working in a smoky environment acceptable to you?
Hotel Agent
The interview was quick and they gave me good info about the job. The interviewer made me feel comfortable. They told me about benefits and asked smart questions. At the end, they showed me around the work area and the lobby, and talked about their philosophy.
- Can you elaborate on your approach to customer service?
- Reflect on your customer service philosophy.
