First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fox Valley Technical College.
Enrollment Facilitator
I applied on their website and got a call about 3-4 weeks later for a 30-minute phone screening. The next week, FVTC HR contacted me by email for Microsoft Word and Excel testing and an interview. I interviewed with the Registrar, Brian, and another employee from the enrollment office. Brian was great, but the other lady was pretty rude. Her reactions made me decide to decline the offer even before I got the rejection email. It felt like every answer I gave, even to "tell me about yourself," was met with disgust. They also did a "simulation" where someone pretended to be a student to see how I'd react. They asked about financial aid and application deadlines. A week later, FVTC HR sent an "I'm sorry" email.
- The "simulation" was unexpected; the job description and interview process didn't indicate it would involve questions about financial aid and application deadlines.
Administrative Assistant
It was a pretty standard process. The main event was a panel interview with about 4 to 6 people from different departments. They asked behavioral questions, then I had to do a short scenario exercise. After that, there was time for any questions they or I had. They might also give a skills test after the interview.
- Can you describe a difficult task from your last job and explain how you managed it?
- Tell me about a challenge you faced in your previous role and how you overcame it.
Adjunct Instructor
The interview process included a presentation and an interview. The interview had a specific format that wasn't explained beforehand, which was a bit of a surprise. There was no follow-up after the interview and the "assignment," which was disappointing given how long it all was.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered adversity?
Multimedia Developer
I had applied for the role, and was an intern at the time. My interview was with the manager and a senior employee. It was about an hour long. My resume was submitted too.
- Tell me about your experience with the Adobe Suite.
