First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fountain House.
Grant Writer
So first I had this phone interview with HR, then I did a virtual interview with someone more senior on the team, and then I had an on-site interview where I met the whole team. Oh, and they also gave me a written assignment to do after the HR call.

- In what ways can one help and assist others using different interaction styles and skill sets?
Social Practitioner
The interview process can be pretty intimidating. You'll usually start with a phone screen from a staff member. After that, you'll have interviews with a lot of staff and members from two Fountain House units. These interviews can be super large, with up to 20 people! It's actually great because the people you'll be helping get to ask you questions and decide if you're a good fit, not just the management and employees. Typically, there are 3 interviews: one with an interview committee, one with the units, and the last one with the director of HR. The good thing is there are no weird personality, drug, or IQ tests. The whole community gets to decide if you're a good fit, and you get to see if you like the community because you meet so many of them.
- In a crisis situation, what's your first step, and how would you manage a major argument within the unit?
- How effective are you at multitasking? If faced with five tasks, what's your approach to prioritization?
Policy and Advocacy Manager
I had an hour-long phone screen with HR, followed by two separate hour-long interviews with my potential boss and another team member. I never heard back after that. I sent a follow-up email to HR after my second interview, but got no response. I sent another follow-up the next week, and still no response. It wasn't very professional.
