It took the recruiter about 3 months to get back to me after the initial application, but once they did, the first interview with the hiring manager was set up pretty quickly. The second interview was a panel with 3 people and involved a presentation on my project management experience. There were some scheduling hiccups, so it got delayed, but we eventually got it done. They told me the next day that they picked an internal candidate, which is fine, but I felt like I wasted a week prepping for the presentation.

I started with a 30-minute phone chat with a recruiter who told me a bunch about the job and the company's perks. After that, they set up a 30-minute one-on-one with the hiring manager. During that call, I got asked questions specifically about the role and some behavioral ones. The interviewers were really friendly, and I felt super comfortable talking about my experience.

Behavioral Presentation

I started with a 40 min phone chat with the recruiter on a Tuesday. The following week, on Friday, I had two 30 min Zoom interviews back-to-back with Client Services Supervisors. The first one went over the role and the client services department. The second was entirely behavioral, with really specific questions that often had about 4 parts asked all at once, which was tough to manage. If I'd moved on, there was supposed to be another interview with the hiring manager. But a week later, the recruiter emailed to say I wasn't moving forward.

Behavioral Presentation

I had an initial phone interview with the recruiter, then with the hiring manager, then three other individual interviews with team members I would be interacting with regularly, and finally a presentation. After five interviews and an assignment I was sent just a generic rejection email the following week, despite being given nothing but positive feedback along with way and being told I was a strong candidate. The recruiter offered to call me when I received my rejection. I accepted, wanting some feedback anyways, and gave my availability for a quick call. They never called and I never heard from them again. In what world can a candidate make it to the end of the interview process, go through five interviews plus a presentation, only to be rejected without any sort of feedback is beyond me. Companies ask so much of candidates these days and give nothing in return. I spent so much time preparing for each interview and a weekend making my presentation for nothing. This was a waste of time and Foundation Medicine definitely needs to streamline their hiring process. Even making some of the interviews panel style would have been so much better.
