Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Foster + Partners.
Designer
A recruiter contacted me after I applied to set up an initial chat. Before that, I had to do a Revit assessment. My first interview was in the office with a partner. We talked about my background, my portfolio, and why I wanted to work at Foster + Partners. I also got to ask some questions. About two weeks later, I had a second interview with a senior partner. It was pretty similar, focusing on my experience, how I approach design, and what I'm interested in professionally. The interviews felt more like natural conversations than formal tests, focusing on talking through ideas and my background.

Interior Designer
I applied for the full-time Interior Designer role in Hong Kong. The whole process was really smooth and well-organized. The recruiter from UK HQ kept me updated all the time, which was great. I interviewed with a Partner and a Senior Interior Designer. They were both nice and professional, and the talks felt more like respectful chats than scary interviews. Really good experience with the people I met.
- What makes you want to leave your current role for this position?
Interior Designer
The interview process was pretty straightforward. I had two interviews, and they seemed really keen on bringing me on board, even mentioning they'd likely offer me the position. After that, they asked for examples of my work beyond what was in my portfolio, but then I didn't hear back. It would have been more professional if they had at least let me know they decided to go in a different direction.
- What makes you want to join this company?
- Could you show us some of your other projects besides what's in your portfolio?
