First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Foss Maritime.
Operations Manager
Started with HR, then a panel interview, and finally an executive interview. The executive seemed pretty checked out though, which was weird.
- Can you introduce yourself and explain your interest in this role?
Receptionist
They started with a 30-minute phone screen, then an hour-long face-to-face interview. After that, I had to fill out a long online application asking for 10 years of work history for a part-time receptionist job. It seemed a bit outdated, especially since they had just installed their HR system and were moving offices. I got a rejection call from someone I never met, making me wonder if they intended to hire an internal candidate all along.
- Tell me about a time you disagreed with a colleague.
Biology Teacher
First, I had to send in an application packet, which included a letter, resume, and other papers, through email. Then, I had a few interviews, one with the person I'd report to and another with a top executive. They did the interviews over Skype, but had phones ready just in case. They looked at my documents using cloud databases.
- In what ways could you use a greenhouse and ecology laboratory to help develop curriculum and lesson plans?
Marketing
I had a phone interview with HR, then went in person for an interview with management. After that, HR called me back for a third interview and said she was sending a calendar invite. I never got the invite and after trying to find out the date, nothing was ever given and no more communication about the position was received. It was disheartening and Foss and their HR handled the lack of communication and follow through poorly.
- Which programs do you utilize most frequently?
