I interviewed for the Technical Support Engineer position at Fortinet on December 6th, 2024. The interviewer, who didn't even turn on his webcam, started with a question about the OSI layers and protocols. Then, he asked me to show him my keyboard because he thought I was looking away. Next, he asked me to share my screen and accused me of using ChatGPT to cheat on a question about VRF leaking, which was related to my current job tasks. Despite my 15+ years of experience as a network engineer and consultant, and having just passed the NSE4 certification for this role, the interviewer ended the interview abruptly. I was planning to relocate to Ottawa for this job.

I have been with Fortinet for about a year and want to warn people considering the Plano, Texas office. This should be your last choice for a long-term career. While our firewalls are good and you'll learn a lot, managers like Scott V. post fake jobs, wasting time and money when they already have candidates. This seems illegal and unethical. They prefer citizens for federal cases or H1Bs (mostly Indians) treated like slaves, as their status is precarious. If you fit these criteria, you might get a job, provided it's not a fake opening. We're leaving due to bad managers, not the company itself.
