UX Designer
So, I applied for a UX Designer role focused on a Design System. Honestly, it was a really bad experience, and I wouldn't recommend working here. They didn't even tell me what the technical interview would be like, and then they expected me to show Figma files that were under an NDA. They never asked about my design process, like how I start things, how I choose what components to work on, or anything about design tokens or other key stuff needed for building a design system from zero. But somehow, they decided I couldn't build a Design System, even though I've done it before and even showed them proof. Also, I got zero info about the actual project, the team, or anything about the job and what I'd be doing.
- Could you explain how you've worked with developers in the past?
Product Owner
First, I had an initial chat with recruiting, which was surprisingly good because they asked relevant, role-specific questions. The second interview was a technical one. The interviewer seemed rushed, even mentioning it, despite the 2:15 hour duration. The format felt less like a conversation and more like a long interrogation, with frequent interruptions mid-answer to 'move on' or prompts like 'nothing else?', making it hard to gauge the expected level of detail. There were many questions, more than I anticipated, specifically about managing team overtime, including at least two about handling such requests without offering extra pay. I shared my approach, emphasizing that such demands should be rare and occasional. The feedback I received, when I inquired, was that while my real-world experience was evident, my responses on handling 'difficult' clients weren't detailed enough, which is true as I didn't focus on that aspect.
- Can you describe specific scenarios where you would require the team to work overtime without additional pay?
Java Developer
The interview process is quite technical. If you are well-prepared on your resume points, you should be fine. They offer flexible timing and good work/life balance, with great company culture and ethics. It's a growing company where you have to work hard, move fast, and have fun. You're rewarded well for your work and efforts. It's a flat organization with direct access to management and the owner. You can enjoy a flexible schedule once you prove yourself and get to work with talented and dedicated people.
- Tell me about Core Java.
Software Engineer
I had my first interview with this really nice woman from Ukraine. Then, I had a tech interview with an engineer. This guy expected me to be an expert in everything: Coding, Architecture, DevOps, and honestly, every possible area related to building a web app. The feedback I got was truly bizarre. He basically rejected me because I wasn't a DevOps expert (which wasn't even mentioned in the job description they sent me after contacting me on LinkedIn) and because I lacked experience in the specific app's domain, despite having over 20 years of experience across many different domains.
- Can you tell me everything you know about programming languages, infrastructure, design patterns, and relevant domains, as well as how to build a web app?
