Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fort Worth Zoo.
Food Service Worker
It wasn't a tough interview at all. They just asked some basic background stuff. They wanted to know where you've worked before and what you liked about it. They also asked if you're okay with walking around and working outside. Nothing to stress about.
- Tell me about your previous work experience.
Teacher's Assistant
You'll have a sit-down interview with two staff members. They'll be personal and nice, but also serious about the job. Many people apply, so do your best to talk about your zoo experience and what you can bring to the table.
- Can you describe how you would handle hypothetical situations?
- Can you share some examples of your experience working with children?
Zoo Keeper
It was a nice and relaxed interview, very to the point. They introduced themselves and then told me about the daily morning shenanigans. They asked me simple questions about how I'd start my day and about different scenarios and what I would do with the animals during various events.
- What do you do first when you get to work?
- Describe how you would begin your workday.
- What actions would you take concerning the animals during different scenarios and events?
Merchandise
I applied online and then got a call back about interviews happening on a specific day. There were a lot of interviews that day, like 50+. They asked some basic interview questions, nothing too hard. They wrote down my answers and either said they'd call me back (meaning I didn't get the job) or offered me the job on the spot. If I got the job, I immediately went to the next room to fill out all my information on paper.
- How would you handle an unhappy customer?
