First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at FORTÉ.
Service Technician
The interview was held at a restaurant over some drinks, which was a nice touch. The regional manager and technical services supervisor were there. It was a pretty standard interview process for a role that needs some technical knowledge. They asked a mix of questions about how you deal with people and some technical ones. Since the job was going to be contracted out to another company, we also had to go over some extra stuff to make sure I was up to speed and ready for that.
- Can you tell me about how you handle communication with others?
- What are your technical capabilities?
- Are you ready for the demands of the contract work?
Project Manager
First, I had a phone call with a manager from their San Diego office. It was about an hour and we talked about my resume and qualifications, the company culture, and what they're looking for, asking specific questions about how I'd fit. Then, I had a lunch meeting with the same manager where we went over my work history, what I want in an employer, and the company's current plans and how this role fits in. Lastly, there was an online meeting with a regional VP and other people. It mostly covered what we'd already talked about, but with some new questions about salary and benefits.
- Can you walk me through your usual project lifecycle, from beginning to end?
- What's your typical involvement timeline for a project?
- Describe your process for project handoff at completion.
Design Engineer
It was a 3-round interview process. First, a recruiter call, then I spoke with the engineering director, and finally with the engineering manager. All the questions were pretty standard and directly related to my current job duties, making it a fairly easy experience for me. I received a verbal offer, but I turned it down because there seemed to be no room for negotiation.
- Can you describe your responsibilities in your current position?
Account Manager
The initial recruiter call went well. The hiring manager for the actual role was looking for someone who was more tenacious rather than just customer-focused. It wasn't a difficult interview. The overall vibe was a bit odd, but that's probably because the division is a new acquisition.
- Can you tell me about your experience with cold calling?
