First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Forsyth Technical Community College.
Instructor
It was a pretty long and involved interview process. There were 4 interviews in total: a hiring committee interview, an interview with the dean, one with the vice president, and then one with the president. Except for the hiring committee interview, all the others were done remotely. Each of these interviews lasted anywhere from 30 minutes to a bit over an hour.
- What are your strategies for dealing with incivility?
Instructional Designer
I met with a group of about 8 people in a small conference room. They took turns asking questions. After that, I gave a short presentation, about 10 minutes, on a topic I chose that was related to instructional design. It was a pretty standard interview, but I didn't expect so many people.
- Can you describe your instructional design process?
- How do you apply your experience to your work as an instructional designer?
Teacher Assistant
I interviewed with two women in a conference room. They each asked me different questions. It was a pretty smooth interview and the questions were professional. I thought I might have messed up, but one of them said I was the first person to answer without saying 'umh' or pausing for a long time.
- Can you share a weakness of yours?
Recruitment and Retention Specialist
It was a panel interview. It was very relaxed, each panel member took a turn asking a question previously selected by HR. The questions were very average questions you are typically asked in an interview.
- Can you tell me about one of your weaknesses?
