It started with a recruiter screen, followed by a first round with a senior member of the people team. During this interview, I was told the hiring manager was out of town, so they would be conducting the interview instead. The conversation then shifted to questions about sourcing techniques for finding candidates with AI/ML experience. It's a bit strange, considering I interviewed for this role back in September and it's been heavily promoted since June, yet there's still no hire 7 months later. I suspect this isn't a company that's serious about hiring for this position and might just be crowdsourcing for competitive advantages in AI recruitment.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I really liked interviewing with Formation Bio for the most part. The TA team was great and got back to me quickly. It's a pretty long process though (I think it had around 6 steps), and the recorded interviews made it feel way too formal. You don't really get to connect with the interviewers, just rapid-fire technical questions, which is a bummer since most seemed really nice. In my case, I talked to a senior People team member instead of the TA head because of scheduling. This person was late, ate, and multitasked the whole time, and the call kept dropping. I know tech issues happen, but asking candidates to set aside hours for a long interview process and then eating and not paying attention for an hour was disappointing. I get I might not have been the right fit, and that's fine, but being made to feel less important than lunch or emails was a letdown. I probably wouldn't have taken the job anyway. I hope this feedback is helpful. I wish the team the best, they have a cool company setup.

I had a phone call with the head of talent, then a video call with a talent manager, followed by 3 separate interviews with the head of talent, head of people, and a director of engineering. I really enjoyed my conversations with everyone on the team. After the last interview, they let me know they wouldn't be moving forward with my application. They also provided feedback on why, which was something new and I appreciated that.
